Cabrillo Wins Two out of Three

Congratulations to Craig Knowles and the Cabrillo varsity football team that finally broke into the win column last night with a 26-13 victory over the Santa Maria Saints. The game-changer was a 98 yard Alberto Garcia kick-off return for a score to negate the momentum the Saints had garnered with a quick TD after a fumble recovery [Story]. The Conquistadors will look to make it two in row next week when they travel upriver to take on the Santa Ynez. The Pirates are 0-4 having lost to Pioneer Valley Friday night 42-19.

The Lower Levels:
Cabrillo beats Santa Maria, loses to AG
Cabrillo JV
Since Santa Maria doesn't field a JV squad this year, Bob Radford's charges traveled to the land of the Big Ditch to tangle with the Arroyo Grande Eagles. The Conqs dropped a tight one 13-7. After taking a lead (reportedly Aaron Millis on a 15 yard Amari Dixon pass), they gave up 13 2nd half points.

Conq Frosh
Steve Haskins' Frosh hosted the Santa Maria Saints on Thursday. It was not close - the Conquistadors won 41-6 and it could have been worse. TD's were scored by T.J. Babauta (3), Isaiah Montes, Jeff Aldridge, & Matt Thomas. Kicker / Linebacker Nick Bell had 5 PAT's and was a defensive stallwart, along with Thomas and Kean Marsh.
