The Braves opponent Friday night will be South (Torrance), 35-7 winners over the Templeton Eagles (8-5). The visitors scored a TD in the first quarter, added two more in the 2nd period, for a 21-0 halftime advantage, and tacked another pair in the second half.
The other game of local interest turned out better for the area - Arroyo Grande rolled over Chaminade 52-19. AG led much of the 1st half, but Chaminade scored a TD with 7 seconds left in the 2nd for a 16-14 lead. That apparently annoyed the Eagles, QB Brent Vanderveen toted the rock for 80 yards and a score on the 2nd half's 1st play from scrimmage, and AG never looked back. Next week they try to end the Serra Cavaliers 28 game win streak which includes last years State "Championship".
