Los Padres League
Technically the Santa Ynez Pirates finished the regular season 21-2. One might think that was a good thing, but no. There is a CIF prohibition against playing more than 20 matches during the season, with several exemptions. One such is that tournaments may include 5 matches and only count as two. There are, naturally, myriad regulations as to what constitutes a tournament and how they are scored. Santa Ynez fell afoul of one of the scoring methodology rules, turning a tournament at Cerritos into a series of single matches and putting them 3 over the limit.
The upshot is Santa Ynez has been forced to forfeit their last 3 LPL matches (all won handily by the Pirates), dropping them into 2nd place and giving the Title to the Cabrillo Conquistadores. Cabrillo has also received the top LPL seed in the CIF-SS Playoffs. Lompoc and Orcutt Academy tied for 3rd at 9-5, with the Braves getting the #3 Seed for the playoffs due to the tie-breaker procedures.
Cerritos, also in playoff Division 4, had to forfeit 2 games and their league #1 seed as well. Play-off information can be found HERE.
