NSBC Athletic Roundtable - Monday, 29 September 2014

Monday, 29 September 2014

Kennedy Klusendorf and Anthony Tyler pose for the newspaper.

Things were a bit different at Giovanni's on Monday, President Joni Gray was back from Africa, but both Doug Nelson and Brad Memberto were unable to attend. Meaning that Mike McKean from the SBNP was drafted to emcee the event, and he ably stepped up to the mike and ran the show without a hitch.

Cabrillo's Fallon Wynne was in attendance, not just because of her excellent play on the court, but because of her senior project - a cancer-fighting fundraiser.

Athletes of the Week

Male Athlete of the Week

Anthony Tyler, Cabrillo Cross-Country

His 2nd meet victory of the season led the CHS harriers to a 2nd place finish in the 5K Righetti Invitational at the Elks/Unocal Events Center on Saturday. Tyler (15:47.4) nipped Alec De Leon (Righetti, 15:47.7) by a whisker, holding off a competitor just as he had done 3 weeks ago at Arroyo Grande's Greg DeNike Invitational. Cabrillo's 2nd place finish was one better results so far this year as they were only topped by a highly regarded Dos Pueblos squad.

Female Athlete of the Week

Kennedy Klusendorf , Righetti Girls Volleyball

Played exceptionally well in two matches last week. In a 4-set loss to Division power Arroyo Grande on the road, she had 23 kills and 16 assists. She followed that with 23 kills, 10 assists, 7 digs in a 4-set win over Pioneer Valley on Thursday.
