Southern Section Western Division (IV)
The Braves got the #3 Seed and a 1st Round home game, but CIF did them no favors. While other top seeds play squads with 5-5, or 4-6 records, Lompoc gets Cathedral the 4th place team out of the Mission League. The Phantoms are theoretically 6-4, but one of those losses is a 1-0 forfeit loss in their opener which they won 34-9 on the field. Their 'real' losses were all in league to #2 Chaminade, #5 St Francis, and #1 Seed Serra. Cathedral has been ranked almost all season.
Santa Ynez was the other Wild Card selection. The Pirates (4-6, 3-3 LPL) were picked over San Marcos (5-5) and Harvard-Westlake (4-6) likely because neither of those squads had a league win. Santa Ynez plays at Camarillo (9-1, 5-0 Pac View).
LPL runner-up Morro Bay (7-3, 5-1) hosts Channel runner-up Buena (6-4, 3-1) in the 8/9 match-up, and the LPL 3rd place squad, Nipomo (5-5, 4-2), travels to take on Channel Champ Ventura (5-5, 4-0).
Southern Section Northern Division (III)
St. Joseph and Righetti snagged 2 of the 4 Wild Card positions, the Knights head inland to face #4 Seed and Golden League Champs Palmdale (8-2, 7-0), while the Warriors play at the #1 Seed Palos Verdes (8-2, 5-0 Bay).
Pac-7 Champions Atascadero (7-3, 6-0) host at-large Saugas (5-5, 2-3 Foothill) as the #3 Seed. Pac-7 runner-up & #8 Seed Paso Robles drew a tough one for their home game in Round 1 - perennial power and Foothill 3rd place team, Hart (8-2, 3-2).

Southern Section Northeast Division (XIII)
The only area squad in this Division is Mission College Prep (SLO). The freelance Royals (8-2) were the runner-ups last year and repeat as the #1 Seeds despite taking a 39-14 thumping on Friday from Bishop Diego.
They host at-large Santa Clarita Christian on Friday. The Cardinals went 2-2 in the San Joaquin League and 5-5 overall.
Southern Section East Valley Division (XII)
The Frontier League sent 2 Ventura County teams into the post-season - Santa Clara (Oxnard) & Fillmore. Santa Clara got the top billing from the Frontier despite losing to Fillmore on Friday, in part because of an earlier win against the Flashes. Since the league was down to 4 teams this year they played each Frontier opponent twice.
Santa Clara (7-3, 5-1), the #5 Seed, hosts Mountain Valley at-large team Banning in the 1st round.
Fillmore (8-2, 5-1) in the #11 spot plays at Mountain Valley 2nd place team and putative #6 Seed Citrus Valley.

The 10 team Marmonte League (Ventura County) sent 4 teams to the top-level DI playoffs. The division at-large teams were Orange Lutheran [Trinity] and Crespi [Serra].
