0 Week Football Update

Seems I got my game predictions reversed - Had Lompoc by 17 & Cabrillo by 28, but the Brave won by 31 & the Conquistadores by 13.

Lompoc played somewhat sloppy ball, but still beat AG 31-0

The Lompoc Braves overcame two 1st half turnovers, 10 penalties (70 yds), and an opening 3 & out, to prevail over a talented though extremely inexperienced flock of Eagles at Huyck Stadium Friday night. What the Braves did show was a punishing ground game (52-287) led by Lavon Coleman (17-175y), who had a 68 yard jaunt that helped turn a close contest in the home squad's favor. Lompoc used 8 guys to tote the pigskin and they amassed 287 yards on 52 carries.

When the Lompoc offense was clicking the AG defense couldn't get them off the field. In their 8 posses ions they compiled drives of 16, 13, 10, and 10 plays. The problem was the Braves spent much of the evening shooting themselves in the foot. The others were 3 & punt, 3 & interception, 4 & fumble, and a 3 play TD drive that included Coleman's ramble. Emblematic of the struggle was their final drive. They racked up 102 yards on 13 plays to set up a 33 yard Juan Morales Field Goal. How? Well, they also mixed in 3 penalties for 25 yards.

According to various sources, the JV used two Vincent Cortez TD's to prevail 14-0, and the Frosh won 27-21 on Thursday.

Cabrillo uses 13-0 2nd half to roll the Royals 27-14.

The Conquistadores used long runs by Nick Pence (34y) [Or Collin Babuata, depending on whom you believe] and Bryce Moses (38 + TD) as part of a 5 play, 73 yard TD drive coming out of halftime. That was the only score in the 2nd half until Colby Turnquist's 2 yard plunge with just a few seconds left in the game. The EP was blocked. The Cabrillo defense forced 4 punts in the Royals last 5 possessions.

Cabrillo opened the scoring, but was quickly answered as San Marcos scored on a half-back option pass. The Conqs retook the lead with by going 86 yards in 8 plays with Alex Green finishing it off with a 63 yard run. The Royals then hit a 35 yard TD pass with 4:37 remaining in the half.

Bryce Moses (12-139) and Alex Green (7-108) both topped the 100 yard mark, with Green tacking on 2 Sacks.

The JV score has not been reported, but the Frosh won 34 - 21 on Thursday
