The CIF-SS/Ford Championships presented by Farmers
Another good week for the area, after starting the playoffs by going 7-0 in the first round the LPL & Pac-7 were 4-3 in the second round. The Lompoc Braves were never seriously challenged in a game marred only by the injury to Lavon Coleman. The sophomore RB/DB sustained a suspected neck injury while making a tackle, and thus fell under the strictures of the head/neck/spinal injury protocols of CIF. He had full movement of his extremities when removed from the field and, according to the latest information available, is expected to make a full recovery.

Round 3/Semifinals
Another very respectable showing for the LPL (now 6-2). Two wins [Lompoc, Templeton] and Santa Ynez gave the #1 seeded Nordoff Rangers all they wanted. The Pirates missed an extra point (wide left) that would have tied the game at 17 apiece.
