There were two tournaments over the weekend involving large numbers of central coast area teams - one in San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay & the other in Santa Barbara.
San Luis Obispo Midstate Girls Volleyball Tournament
This tournament involved 32 teams in three major stages - seeding pool play, division pool play, and a Championship round (4 different levels) of single-elimination brackets.Friday's initial round consisted of 8 pools (mostly of 4 teams ) engaged in round-robin competition. On Saturday, the top teams were then grouped into the "Gold Division" and the bottom squads into the "Silver Division". Teams were again divided into pools for second round play within each division. The top two teams in each of the new pools then advanced to the 'Division Championship' and the bottom two teams in each new pool went into the 'Division Consolation' brackets.
Participating teams came from all around the state, but can generally be grouped into three clusters - SLO County teams, SB County teams, and 'out-of-area' teams. Each initial pool generally consisted of 1-2 teams from each cluster. [Note: LPL= Color, Other SB/SLO Co = Bold, Ventura Co = Italics]

The Cabrillo Conquistadores were bumped up a notch to the Gold Division where they won their pool (2-0-1), but were bounced in the first round of the playoffs. They tied Brentwood (17-25, 25-19), def Malibu (26-24, 25-19) and Buckley (25-22, 25-15), before falling to Woodside (15-25).[TO BE UPDATED]
