Derrick Wong will take his wins where he can find them this season, but with the jumble that is the current LPL standings, he's maintaining an even keel. There is quite a bit of soccer left to play, namely Templeton, Santa Ynez, Nipomo, and Morro Bay, but his girls are starting to put all the pieces together. The Conqs likely will need 3 of those 4 to make the playoffs.
While not happy with the result, Santa Maria coach Rogelio Gonzalez thought "the whole team played well. We're starting to be more competitive." As for his keeper, Karime Morales, "She had 8 good saves, without her we give up, maybe 5 more goals."

According to Cabrillo Coach Cindy Eisen one of the best things about her team right now is the depth that is developing. "The girls are really learning to take advantage of their opportunities." They now understand that they have to earn the right to "stay and play", which has fostered competition and made the whole team better.
Cabrillo had tallies by two midfielders and a defender, leading the Coach to quip "Hey, I'm gonna have to get on my Forwards about that." She was especially happy about the score by Ariana Williams, noting, "I can't imagine that's not her first goal."
Coach Eisen also noted that while almost everybody else was subbed for often, she kept her "sweeper/stopper" pairing of Claira Caro and Carissa Sanchez intact and in the game almost the entire time. "They're just too good".

Saints [c. 2-9-2]: Goals/Assists - None. Goaltending - Naomi Miramontes (c.10-11 Saves). Alicla Olea, Tanya, Lili Jimenez, and Esmerelda de Jesus, were all mentioned as playing well by the coaching staff.

Santa Ynez rallied from goose-eggs at the half, and a 1-0 early in the 2nd half, to take the victory and secure a playoff berth.

The Conqs have had difficulty scoring all season, and this one was no different. Juan Trejo, Kenji Moua, and Ray Walters had several scoring chances for Cabrillo, but couldn't convert.

Mauricio Uvias scored his 2nd goal with under 2 minutes left in regulation to pull the Titans even and force overtime. Unfortunately for the Titans, Templeton's Austin Alacon made the trip south. He fed the ball to Clayton MacKay for a score shortly after the start of the 1st OT period, and soon followed it up with his own hat-trick goal.
