The 2014 Lady Pirate Invitational [2 Player Teams - Best Ball]
at the Alisal River Course [All 18, Par 72]

The tourney started late since a number of teams from down south were delayed by the 9 hour closure of the north-bound 101 freeway. Apparently, a man was killed when his vehicle ran into a construction vehicle near the Carpinteria work zone. Slow Down in the Cone Zone Folks! The two teams from Oaks Christian did not make it, and the last to make it, Camarillo, arrived after 1:30 pm.

The 19 teams, from 12 schools, that did compete, "enjoyed" a course that was in beautiful condition, but had been set up for an earlier PGA event. Also due to the late start, the afternoon wind & impending darkness began to come into play. These difficulties were ameliorated in large measure, however, by the excellent food and gracious service provided by the River Grill staff.

The golfers themselves, ranged from experienced veterans receiving a nod for faithful service and high-hope rookies getting 'broken in', to the 'title contenders'. For many of the players it was their 1st experience at 'best-ball' competition.

Four teams provided the award winners (plaques were given to the top 2 individuals & the top 4 teams) - Nipomo was 2nd in the Team competition with the Titans Cynthia Navis winning Medalist Honors.with a 73 to tie the Tournament record.

Newbury Park 'A' took the team title, led by Medalist runner-up Madison Wood (74), while Bella Vigna's 3rd place individual finish (76) lifted Dos Pueblos 'A' into 3rd Place in the team competition. Righetti 'A' took 4th due to Sarah Fouratt's 79 - good for fourth individually.
