GIRLS TENNIS

CIF-SS Team Playoffs, 2nd Round

More Playoff Information HERE

The Argonauts will have to continue their search for gold next season, the Conqs couldn't quite tame the Mustangs, the
Eagles were steamrolled by a perennial power, and two Tri-Valley squads squeaked through on games.

Walnut Head Coach Lee Shiomoto brought a talented group to the Central Coast, and it was not a favorable portent for the Conqs that the visitors' team colors are Blue and White. (See Big Game Coverage HERE)

Division 3

Walnut 10, Cabrillo 8

[By Round: 2,3,3-8  W: 4,3,3-10]

Cabrillo finally lost to someone other than the OA Spartans. Both those losses were also close 10-8, and 11-7. In this one they dug themselves an early hole and weren't quite able to climb out of it. They went 2-4 (20-28 in games) in the first round of sets and while they never completely recovered, they did make it interesting late.

The locals cut the margin to 7-8 with three sets still underway. The teams then split next two, presenting the possibility of a tie in sets-sending the match to games. Unfortunately, the Conqs entered the final round, down 16 games, and Walnut made the whole question moot by winning the final set.
