GIRLS BASKETBALL

Gold Coast Classic

The Dons were not happy about losing to Cabrillo by 19 in the Bryan Ayer Classic at Lompoc last week, so they returned the favor - topping the Conqs by 22 at their rivals house in Goleta.

Santa Barbara turned up the defense (7 players w/steals) - no Cabrillo player shot over 50 % from the floor, and only 4 Conqs scored. Leading scorer Erin Jenkins also had to play with 4 fouls. Offensively, SB held on to the ball (12 vs 20 turnovers) and shot well from behind the arc (58% vs 17%).

The Bulldogs ran outta gas, and are fast running out of point guards. They erased a 14 point deficit Wednesday night to force a 52 all tie, only to see the Corsairs reel off the next 15 points.

The point guard situation? Starter Shane Carney (So), a 2015 All-Western State Conference Honorable Mention player, has blood clots in his arm due to a major car accident. His backup, freshman Nolan Willett, has a leg injury.

Corsairs [6-4]: Team19-35 54% Shooting, Rebounding SM 44-28 AHC. IndividualJoe Robinson 31 points (9-21, 6-13 3pt); Jhamad Norwood 17 points, 18 rebounds; Isiah Ajiboye 10.
