Titan GK Andy Katz played well - stopping nearly half the shots on goal he faced, but it was not enough. The Cabrillo fast break, fueled by missed shots & turnovers, frequently put him in the crosshairs.

Cabrillo raced out to a 6-0 lead and this one looked to be a runaway until LCCN reporter Brad Memberto left the building with the Conqs up 8-4.
Cabrillo dominated the later part of the 1st Quarter, after a sluggish start by both sides. Cardenas finally opened the scoring with 3:23 left, and was followed by Rosales (1:27) and Rowe (0:50), before netting another himself (0:28). Nipomo esentially had 2 shots in the period - 1 was saved, the other missed an open goal.
The Conqs scored twice early in the 2nd (Rosales 6:28; Cardenas 5:18). Then when the Titans picked up the pace, Cabrillo started picking up exclusions. Webb (2:19) and Sparkes (1:09 - open goal) struck late to pull Nipomo a bit closer at the half, but no-one was expecting a game to break out.
The opening of the 3rd was more back & forth, although Cabrillo did get a man-up advantage, and called a time-out to set up a play, but did not score.
Then suddenly, like the rain burst during the contest, the goal machine was turned on. Starting with Dahlberg (5:19) the teams alternated goals on several succesive possessions. Wulfstieg hit twice (4:19, 2:55), but was countered by Webb (3:51) and Dahlberg (2:10) again.
Rosales had a shot go just high, and on the ensueing trip Webb (1:37) scored to narrow the locals lead to 8-6. Cabrillo didn't score on their next opportunity, and the Titans roared down the pool looking to pull within one, but Conq Keeper Sam Reep stopped Jacob Billenger's shot for one of his 8 saves on the day.
There was another quick flury in the closing 75 seconds, Cabrillo earned an exclusion, and Saxon Morris (1:15) converted to make it a 9-6 lead. Dahlberg (1:32) cut the margin to 2, but Cardenas (0:32) pushed back to three.
The 4th Quarter was a defensive battle with the Titans getting the better of the mid-pool play. With 4:08 remaining, Sparks sprung loose for a goal, and Reep spent the next few minutes fending off attacks. He made 3 saves, some spectacular, during that stretch, in addition to several shots off the cage.
Nipomo finally got their goal to close to 10-9 from Webb on a quick reaction back-handed scoop shot at the 1:24 mark. The Conq fans, coaches, and parents were already a bit nervous by that time. They received some relief from Michael Wulfstieg, however. He scored on a secondary break after a turnover with just 22 ticks on the clock, but Reep still had to make another stop on Dahlberg before running out the last few seconds.

This is an "All-Duals" Format meet, meaning that each school is scored individualy against each of the other schools as if their were no other competiotors. Essentially, a bunch of individual dual meets run similtaneous ly.
This race provides teams with a point total equal to their number of dual wins (6,5,4,3,2,1,0). The League Final meet provides double points in inverse proportion to each teams place (12,10,8,6,4,2,0). The two results are added to determine final LPL places.
The top 4 placers in the final talley advance to the CIF Divisional Preliminary Meets in their respective attendance-based divisions.
