A quick note on the trade that sent Ryan Church and Brian Schnieder to the Mets for Lastings Milliage.
...................Church / Schnieder / Milliage
Batting Ave. ... .316 ...... .309 ......... .269
Home Runs..........3 .......... 0 ............ 1
RBI's................ 19 .......... 8 ........... 10
On-base % ........385 ...... .391 ......... .339
Slugging % ...... .469 ..... .308 .......... .375
ESPN runs a large number of fantasy leagues. The average draft position in those leagues at the start of the year was Milliage 218.4 and Church & Schnieder undrafted. About a week into the season, Milliage was on a team in some 67 % of leagues and Churchie was in about 27 % of them. Now the numbers are somewhat different - LM 40.3 % and Church 100.0 %. Even Schnieder is getting picked up, despite spening most of the last week in the hospital.
Oh! In case you were wondering, among Mets with appearances in at least 15 of their 26 games, the top batting averages are :
Ryan Church .316
Brian Schnieder .309
David Wright .281
Luis Castillo .259
Jose Reyes .250
Endy Chavez .226
Carlos Beltran .211
Carlos Delgado .198
and Church & Schnieder are the only ones on the team over .300.
