BOYS TENNIS
Lompoc 10, St Joseph 8 [STORY] at David Bickmore Courts

It was Lompoc doubles versus St Joe singles in this contest to decide second place in the LPL. The Braves recorded some late round comebacks to pull this one out.

In the final round, Lompoc up 7-5, needed to win three of the six sets.

First up was singles, but the Brave's #2, Robert Rodriguez, lost to St. Joseph’s #3, Jacob Goeres. That put the pressure on Kyle Thumm, who trailed Hayes Dunn 5-4, but in a volitile contest yanked a 7-5 victory out from under the Knights.

And so the final set of the match; Lompoc's #2 doubles, Oscar Rodriguez / Cooper Barrick, fought back from a 3-0 deficit to the Knight's Matt Hiltner / Niles Johnson to win 6-4. A St Joe advantage in total games would have given them the win had the teams tied at nine sets apiece.

Singles
Thumm finished 2-1 on the day dropping only a 6-1 set to St. Joseph’s # 1 Jake Eszes.
Eszes was 3-0 [6-1, 6-2, 6-0] and has lost only four sets in the LPL. The third seed at the LPL Individual Finals on Friday.

Doubles
Lompoc took 7 of 9 doubles sets. Alex Jensen / Joel Martin, 32-1 on the season, won all three sets [6-2, 6-1, 6-0], while duos #2 Rodriguez / Barrick, and Carlos Diaz / Chris Aldama, each captured 2-3.
