The local high school football squads took it on the chin, or perhaps a bit lower, Friday night.
Cabrillo [ See Story ] was steamrolled on the road by St. Joseph in their LPL opener. The Conqs scoring operation is still stuck on a total of 3 points, as the Knights won 45-0 while racing for 375 yards on the ground.
Lompoc [ See Story ] fell 49-6 to Dos Pueblos at Huyck Stadium. They turned the ball over three times (down from 5 two weeks ago & 4 last week), and only gained 158 yards total offense on 46 plays. The rushing game was again stiffled - 16 yards on 16 carries in the 1st half, and 34 totes for 76 yards in total. Twenty yards, on 4 attempts, of that total came on the final Braves posession.
Lompoc's sole score was a 40 yard TD throw, Bower to Morehart, on 4th & 2, with 1:51 left in the 2nd quarter to narrow the margin to 28-6.
