Two 'lagoons' in particular - the cement pond that is the City of Lompoc Aquatic Center, and the allegedly blue one at UCSB. Yup, the complete results are finally in.

Cabrillo 15, Lompoc 10
Kevin Hicks had his kids ready to go, and it was one of the better match-ups in recent pool contests between the two local schools, but Cabriilo still came out on top. How close was it ? Except for 35 seconds in the 3rd quarter, neither team led by more than two goals until late in the 4th period.
Cabrillo took an early 2 point lead on goals by Jake Motyer & Marcus Thiele, but the Braves retaliated with 2 of their own by Taylor Emery. Those goals, however, were sandwiched around the conqs 3rd score - a goal by Emmett Hill.
Motyer opened the 2nd quarter scoring on a really nice touch shot of a cross-pool pass, pushing the Conqs advantage to 4-2. But Lompoc evened the score with consecutive goals by Daniel Dunaetz - the second on the rebound of a missed 5-meter penalty shot. Goals from Tyler Chard & Motyer gave Cabrillo back its 2 point margin, but a goal from Robert Macias and Emery's third score tied the match at 6 all at the half.
It was a very busy 3rd period, with a frenetic last minute. Shae Kakos (CHS) and Emery each scored goals to keep things tied at 7 apiece, then Chard popped in his second, and Tyler Thompson scored his 1st to put the Conqs up 9-7. When Hill scored again with 56 seconds left it looked like Cabrillo might finish the period up three, but Dunaetz hit his 3rd goal with 40 ticks left on the clock to pull the differential back to two. But we're not done. Tyler Chard (0:30) gave Cabrillo its second 3-goal advantage, but it lasted only 19 seconds as Robert Macias scored again with only 11 seconds remaining in the quarter.
Emmett Hill scored his 3rd & 4th goals of the game to start the 4th period. The second came with 3:05 left, after Cabrillo Head Coach Joel Jory picked up a yellow card for disputing a call in what was a quite physical first 5 minutes. That goal put the Conqs up 13-9, but was answered just 8 seconds later by Michael Ostrander. That would be the Braves last hurrah, however, as Motyer and Kakos each scored in the final 2:30 to give Cabrillo a 15-10 victory.
Goals:
Cabrillo - Jake Motyer 4, Emmett Hill 4, Tyler Chard 3, Shae Kakos 2, Marcus Thiele, Tyler Thompson. Cabrillo scored 6 goals with a man advantge.
Lompoc - Taylor Emery 4, Daniel Dunaetz 3, Robert Macias 2, Michael Ostrander
Junior Varsity
Cabrillo 9, Lompoc 4
This was a tale of two halves, Jeff Dacos's charges dominated early - while Lompoc controlled the second half. The Conq used goals by Adrian Favela, Kyle Lopez (on a 5M Penalty), Simon Reep, and Jake Wiley to finish the 1st period up 4-0. They added 3 more in the second, as Gavin Kilcoyne, Kieren Carroll, and Wiley all scored without a response from the Braves.
In the second half the Braves seemed to figuere out that they could play with the Conqs and it was a much different game. Marc Saucedo-Julian scored twice, and Miles Holmlund & Tyler Townsend each scored once as Lompoc outscored Cabrillo 4-2. Nate Chandler scored both Conq second half points.
According to Lompoc coach Casey Brooks, it was only "the second game ever" for most of his crew, including exchange students Gabriel Belizano (Brazil) and Xi Ping Li ['Eddie'] (China). The Braves had an earlier 10-6 loss to Paso Robles.
David Barber had a number of nice stops in goal for the Braves.
