Lompoc Loses Luna

The above photo may become a rariety. Lompoc's starting QB Abie Luna has been suspended indefinitely for the "violation of a team policy" as the result of an off-campus incident. According to Head Coach Andrew Jones, Luna's rapid return is unlikely. [Note: The suspension was lifted just prior to the Braves game against Santa Ynez (1 Oct 2010).]

Jones stated "We just have to get the next guy ready to play." That would be senior Evan Aguilar.

The Braves face Pioneer Valley Friday night at Huyck Stadium. The game will be telecast in Hi-Def by TAP-TV [Comcast Channel 23].

Morgan Salm Drops Golf Gauntlet

Thursday's 4-way tournament at the Alisal River Course was touted as a match-up between Righetti's Makala Mier, Santa Ynez's Maddy Shean & Kristen Henno. Cabrillo junior Morgan Salm paid no attention to the talk, took Medalist honors, and staked her claim to Central Coast supremacy. Her 38 for the 9-hole affair was 2 strokes better than the field. The host Pirates took the team title, posting a school record for the course with a 206. An amazing 14 of the 24 competitors scored below 50.

Individual Scores:
(Top 5 Individual Scores are totaled for Team Scores.)

Cabrillo [255]:
Morgan Salm 38, Mariah Hall 44, Isabel Tejada 53, Jade Stevens 56, Gabby Hott 59, Marissa Merrick 61.

Santa Ynez [206]:
Kristen Henno 41, Maddison Shean 40, Christiana Layman 40, Meridith Stewart 40, Sara Sanger 45, Jenny Andreas 59.

St Joseph [244]:
Desiree Gilaspy 42, Marissa Gutierrez 47, Kelsey Wong 43, Danika Cochiola 53, Megan Morgan 66, Liana DeQuzman 58.

Righetti [222]:
Makala Mier 40, Mareon Smit 42, Dani O'Keefe 43, Kelsey Nolan 41, Hayley Davis 57, Melanie Johnson 56.

Some folks might recognize the name Gilaspy for St Joseph. Yup, that's the younger sister of former LPL terror Danielle, who is now on scholarship at Pepperdine University.

Boys Water Polo

The Lompoc Braves squad was swamped 15-3 by St. Joseph at the COLAC on Thursday afternoon. Ronald "R.J." Morales scored twice & Myles Holmlund tossed in another for the Braves. Knights scorers were Shan Villapando (3), Andre Morales, Brandon Chavez, Tyler Stetson, Joey Keeling, Chris Morales (all 2 goals each), Josh Lewis, and Jake Wemple.
