"A League of Their Own" now available

I recently heard from documentary filmmaker, among his other endevours, Kelly Candaele. I'll let him tell you about it ...

"Picture of my mom in her prime – Batting Champion 1945 – 92 stolen bases.   She could fly"
Helen Callaghan Candaele St. Aubins

"Lompoc Locker Room – Wanted to let your readers know this Documentary is available – based on my Mom's life who, of course, lived most of her life in Lompoc.   Would be great to make it available to young girls who play softball and the players on the Lompoc High team.   Thanks,   Kelly Candaele   (Lompoc High 1972) "

"Friends,
I've recently retained the rights to A League of Their Own, the documentary film on my mom that I produced 20 years ago.   When the feature film (which  was inspired by the documentary)  that starred Tom Hanks and Madonna was released in 1992, I had no idea that young girls (and boys) would be still watching it two decades later – albeit on channel 634 on cable or some other obscure place.   A League of Their Own became a comedy classic, and always on the top ten lists of baseball films.

I'm pleased that young athletes – especially the young girls – still know about the movie and the     women who played in the All American Girl's Professional Baseball League.   Depending on the quality of the school they attend, they might even know that the league existed during the time of something called World War II.  So if you know of young girls who have seen the feature film and might be thrilled to find out who the "real" women were, then go to  www.Aleagueoftheirown.net  where you can take a look at a trailer for the documentary.    If you decide to buy one, you also get my mom's official baseball card along with the DVD.

Remember – There's No Crying in Baseball  -  Kelly"
