9/22/16 Freshman Football game is postponed
The freshman football game against Righetti scheduled for 9/22/16 in Huyck Stadium has been postponed until further notice.  A date for the rescheduled game has not yet been determined but will be announced just as soon as a date has been scheduled between the two teams.

All outdoor sporting events and practice has been canceled due to the air quality in the Lompoc Valley due to the Canyon Fire and a new fire located on VAFB North Base.
                                                    -  LHS Athletic Department Statement

The Santa Ynez Pirates, perennial Los Padres League Champs, fell for the second time this week - both times AT HOME. After falling to Cabrillo on Tuesday  10-8, the Orcutt Academy Spartans topped them 12-6 on Thursday.

Except for one year they played too many matches, and had to forfeit some LPL contests, the Pirates have won the title every year for over a decade. Cabrillo won that year.

Depth was a problem for Santa Ynez, they return only 3 starters from last season, while the Spartans only lost two seniors. The hosts were also missing doubles player Brontee Cintron who was out with a rotator cuff injury.

Each of the Spartans singles won at least two sets, and two-time LPL singles champion (2013,2015) Mary Kavaloski lost 6-0 to the OA #2, Megan Vise, in the final round.
