They Rang The Bell - Eventually.. (Thur 8 Sep 16)

Thursday, September 8

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The Cabrillo Girls Volleyball squad still has a few things to work on, including the home victory celebration. After tallying their 1st win of the season (3-0 over Santa Maria), no-one rang the 'Victory Bell' until the post-game team meeting was done.

First year Head Coach Megan Love, was spared a trip to the pool (it was locked) following her initial coaching victory, but did not stay entirely dry either. Long-time Cabrillo coach and faculty member Sheryl Murray did the honors with a sports bottle.

On the court, the Conquistadores played with a calm determination and level of poise that belied their winless record. They served quite well and mostly kept the ball in the court -with the notable exception of a period late in Game #3 that heightened the tension a bit.

It was a very good night for the program - all three levels won, and Cabrillo claimed a share of the LPL lead. Neither of those things have occurred for a while.
Rachel Guron

The evening started with junior setter Rachel Guron singing the National Anthem, and closed with celebratory bell ringing - music, indeed, to the ears of the collective crowd of Conqs.
