Greens Give Blue the Monday Blues [9 Dec]

Monday, 9 December 2013

A little bit of action (somewhat disappointing) on the field, some football news, a few new CIF-SS polls to mull over, and the NSBCART Luncheon.

Male Athlete of the Week
Chad Brodhead, Cabrillo, Basketball

Chad's MVP performance, 27+ ppg, in leading the Conqs to a 4-0 record and the Nordhoff Tournament Title was further rewarded on Monday.

Male Athlete of the Week
Syenna Ramirez, St Joseph, Basketball

Had a 14+ ppg average in 3 games at the Marin Catholic Tournament. That average was bolstered by 19 for the Knights in their 45-42 Consolation Championship victory. She named to the All-Tournament Team.

Football

A few notes to catch things up.

Playoffs

The last CIF-SS Championship Games concluded on Saturday with the Nordhoff Rangers winning their 2nd in a row, the Mission Prep Royals falling in the finals for the 2nd year in a row, and in the Western Division - Chaminade upsetting #1 Seed Serra.

On Monday, the CIF officially released the regional game match-ups for the State Bowls. Nordhoff was selected to play in the SoCal Div III game, Chaminade faces Northern Division Champion Hart in the Div II game, and there will be a Serra team in the continuing on. But it will be Serra HS from San Mateo in the NorCal Div. I contest.

Ainuu Taua

Lompoc DT/DE/OLB/TE/RB/P Ainuu Taua has elected to play his college ball for the UCLA Bruins, according to the UCLA website and a slew of other media reports.
