Both girls programs were on the road, and the guys were at home. All of them were taking on the big cats though, as the Braves faced the Pioneer Valley Panthers and the Conqs played the San Luis Obispo Tigers.
It didn't go all that well.
In any event, the advent of a cold, blustery wind, heralded the start of 'soccer weather' in the area and some rather cold blustery scores by the local soccer teams.

As new Lompoc Head Coach Mike Burke explained to his team after their last preseason practice, "We have 10 games to prepare, and while I don't want to go 0-10, I don't need to go 10-0 either. We need to use this time to try things and to figure out what works."
James Baca, echoed the sentiment out at Cabrillo following their defeat on Tuesday, telling his charges "Look, lots of things went wrong today, and there are things we need to work on. But I'm not worried about losing today. We just need to be ready on December 17th." December 17th being the date of the 1st round of LPL games.

[1st Half Cabrillo 2-1]
"San Luis did what we wanted to do - control the pace and make good passes." was how Coach Baca summed it up. It was a very physical game early on with the Tigers collecting a red card, and each squad earning a pair of yellow ones.
Cabrillo's offensive punch suffered a significant blow when Jose Montes went down with an injury about 5 minutes after kickoff, but they managed to take a 2-0 lead before a 40th minute penalty kick (earned by Travis Caldwell) pulled the Tigers to within a goal. SLO would strike 3 times in the 2nd half - at 20, 35, and 41 minutes to pull away.
