Sydney Townes had 2 goals and and assist for Cabrillo on Saturday. |
Charter Oak [Covina] 4, at Cabrillo 3
[Halftime 2-2]
Cabrillo played well, but it wasn't quite enough against Kevin Harshberger's Chargers. Sydney Townes hit 2 in the 1st half - the 1st off a corner kick, and Kaeli Jones got a rebound out of a scrum in front of the goal into the net in the second. Head Coach Derrick Wong, who is thought the defense "all played well", but noted Emma Fienga's efforts in her first appearance at Sweeper.
The loss drops Cabrillo to 0-5 (all against good teams) on the season, while the Chargers record is listed at 4-1 but is missing a result.
Conqs : Goals (Assists) - Sydney Townes 2 (Carley Chatterley to Kaeli Jones; Bella Sanchez), Kaeli Jones 1 (Sydney Townes). Goalkeeper - Rikki Patel 90 minutes, c. 8 saves.
Chargers : Goals - Anasazi Nunez (Sr.) 2 (+1 Assist), 'Sam' Morales 1 (+1 Assist), Cameryn Corcoran 1 (+1 Assist). Goalkeepers - Riley Barbata (Jr.) [1H] 3 Saves; Joya Rankins (Sr) [2H] 1 Save.

Junior Varsity
Cabrillo JV Tournament [Rotational Duals]
Lompoc had a truly coed contingent at CHS - 5 Guys, 5 Gals. Plus Emely Roman (out injured) & Coach Solis. |
The purpose of the meet was primarily to get youngsters some mat time. So while wrestlers competed as 'Teams', there were a significant number of 'loaners' - grapplers loaned out for the competition by a school that had an abundance at one weight to another squad to fill a hole in their line-up. This resulted in a few oddities - such as wrestlers from the same HS facing each other while representing two entirely different schools from their own.
Teams - Cabrillo, Lompoc, Nipomo, San Luis Obispo, Atascadero
The Lompoc/Cabrillo Match-up
