Garces (Bak.) Holiday Soccer Festival
The Garces HSF is a very large tourney involving dozens of teams. (The 80 girls teams make it the largest girls tourney in California.) Most are from the central valley, but a fair number of teams from the area are also participating. There are 8 Varsity divisions for both boys & girls, plus there is a JV division for each.
The eight Divisions are - Elite, Premiere (A & B), Gold (A & B), Silver (A & B), and Bronze.

The Braves, Atascadero Greyhounds, and Pioneer Valley Panthers were all in this division. Games were played at a variety of sites. {Winters is a city located along the 505 west of Sacramento. Their girls squad is ranked #1 in Northern Section Division 2, 9th in California and 34th nationally.}

Lompoc avenged a 2-1 loss in the CCT by handing Atascadero its first. The Braves Evelyn Acosta netted one in the first half and Lompoc made it stand up. One reason? They had another stellar session in goal, as the Greyhounds recorded an amazing 32 shots without scoring.

Each squad scored a goal in the second half of regulation, both were scoreless in the two OT halves, so it was decided on penalty kicks. Warriors keeper Vanessa Arrellano, who had 12 saves, managed to stop 2 Lompoc PKs in the shootout. Lompoc was barely outshot 16-14.

The Warriors scored in the the 1st half, the Panthers secured the 2nd half equalizer, but Winters scored in the 1st half of OT when Sofia Evanoff put home a rebound off the PV goalie.

Vianney Tomayo and Evelyn Acosta both had chances, but couldn't make them pay off.
