A smattering of fans at the COLAC were treated to a relatively rare occurrence in recent area water polo contests - competitive games between evenly matched teams.
Varsity

The Braves had chances. They had quite a few steals/turnovers, but couldn't convert on 4 player advantage situations, found the post too often, and had several mental lapses down the stretch. While the offense sputtered at times, senior Phoenix Herrigel was masterful in the net.
Pirates [2-5,1-2]: Goals - Levi Krull 3, Ricardo Valobra 3, Rayden Nrodati. Goalkeeping -Hiram Burrus.
Braves [1-4,0-3]: Goals - Andrew Waite 2, Brandon Weiz 2, Jarred Torres, Humberto Bobadillo. Goalkeeping - Phoenix Herrigel.
Note: No Goaltending stats were readily available, but Burris likely had 7-8 saves, while Herrigel was in the 12-14 range.

Grant Davidson tallied 2 of the 3 goals that Santa Ynez scored in the final 63 seconds of the first period on Wednesday. That flury broke open a 1-1 tie and set the Pirates on a path for victory in a contest for the LPL top spot.
