That's right folks, the LLR football broadcast on Friday night previously presented only on Comcast (Lompoc) channel 23 will now be available to the world here on LompocLockerRoom.com every Friday during the season via streaming audio !!
In other news, Betty Sullivan & Chelsea Cassulo (above) continue their athletic endeavours, Ryan Church cranks one out, reps from the CHS girls X-C team appear on Lompoc Locker Room TV (Comcast ch 25 on Monday @ 5:30), and the high school fall sports season started with both girls golf teams on the road & wins by the LHS Frosh & JV teams over the Nipomo Titans.
Ryan Church
"Carlos Delgado, who has answered his own questions, had been good-naturedly riding Church about the lack of a home run since Church's return from his protracted concussion issues. Church enjoyed it, but he was quite aware of the power lapse too. "I was asking myself 'Do I have it? Do I have it after all the time I missed?' "
"He has it. Church hit the second grand slam of his career, the Mets' third this season -- they hit none last season -- and his first home run of any nature since June 1. The Mets' batting order looked significantly deeper after his 11th home run touched down."
Watch the Slam Here.
Chelsea Cassulo
Allan Hancock College SID & local sports reporter Brad Memberto is happy. At game after game last year he said of Chelsea - "I hope she comes to Hancock". He got his wish. The multi-sport [Basketball (Center), Track (Shotput/Discus & Hurdles)] star at LHS has enrolled at the school and joined the Bulldogs hoops squad.
Girls Golf
Cassulo's backup at LHS on the hardwood and trusty #2 in the throws Betty Sullivan has added a fall sport to her repertoire. The LHS senior was welcomed to the inexperienced Golf team with open arms by Coach Tom Garrard, who simply says "she's an athlete". Betty & the Braves traveled to Hunter Ranch (Paso Robles) for a tough three-way meet with Paso & Morro Bay. Coach Garrard says " The Braves girls golf team kicked off the fall sport season with a tough loss in tough conditions at Paso Robles. Anna Clark, Brittany Kowalewski, and Betty Sullivan all posted personal bests. Keep working hard ladies!"
Meanwhile the young cross-town squad from Cabrillo was up at Cypress Ridge in Arroyo Grande in a three-way with the Eagles (253), and the SY Pirates (264). The Conquistador varsity, with 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores, and a junior posted a 9 hole score of 327 in their first action.
Frosh/JV Football
The Braves and many of their fans hit the road, traveling to a warm reception in Nipomo. Warm because of the weather, the graciousness of Nipomo AD Laurie Decker, and generosity of the Titans' teams who repeatedly gave the football to Lompoc.
The frosh were the beneficiaries of three turnovers in Nipomo's seven possessions in route to a 7-3 win. The JV 4 of 7 in the first half to take a 39-0 lead, before cruising with a running clock to a 53-0 win. Brandon Moorman took the third Lompoc play of the game to the house for the Brave frosh, and the Titans scored on a late FG after a turnover gave them possession on Lompoc's 10 yardline. Neither side was able to consistently move the ball.
The JV game was a complete miss-match. Lompoc scored on 8 of 10 possessions and one of the nonscoring drives was a kneeldown at the end of the first half. Jordan Collins took the opening kickoff 82 yards for the TD and then the Braves missed the EP - which was indicative of the whole game. Lompoc's speed simply overwhelmed the Titans & the Braves kicking game will provide the staff with plenty to work on this week.
Stats & Game Recaps will be included in the post tomorrow. -- el stato
