A Few Odds & Ends [Updated]




Cabrillo' s Zach Pecyna won the Male Athlete of the Week award at the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Roundtable. Likely had something to do with that 4-5, 7 RBI (including a grand slam), game versus Morro Bay.




Sorry Folks - The Alumni Review has been bumped to Wednesday. In the meantime here's a few, well, odds and ends.

The Braves Abie Luna was the Medalist with a 36 for the 9 holes - one stroke better than the Pirates Eric Olson. Individual scores for Lompoc have not been received. Individual scores for the Pirates: Olson 37, Matt Hansen 40, Doug Chesbro 43, Cody Chavez 52, Willie McConagill 52.
Santa Ynez Spring Classic

Monday
Santa Ynez 12, Crossroads 1 [5 Innings]
Three Pirates had two hits apiece - Nicho Dellavalle, whose initial one was a solo homer at the bottom of the 1st, Sean Rowan (3 RBI), and Tyler Lowry (2 RBI). Ben Dickey, junior RHP, collected his second win.

Santa Ynez (12-2) 12, Grant [Van Nuys] 4
Sean Rowan is pretty good, in this one he had 3 hits, including two doubles. Tyler Lowry also continued 'thwacking' the ball with a two-run homer in the 4th as one of his two hits (4 RBI). Evan Soliman and Logan Harmon each had two hits of the Pirates total of 13 hits.

Lefty Luke Harmon (4 four innings) earned the start and his first win, and was followed by solid relief from senior Taylor Anthony and freshman Nathan Thompson, who worked the final three innings.

It was the first non-league win for the Owls who were led by Julian Harake (10 kills, 5 blocks, 3 digs), Parker Lilly (7 kills, 3 blocks, 2 digs), and Spencer Busbout (23 assists). Lilly just recently moved from Outside Hitter to Middle Blocker.

Mission Prep Royals: Jerry Casey (17 kills, seven digs, five aces), Brian McAllen (6 kills) and Sean Robinson (six kills,25 assists).

Eight year old rookie rider Felicity Shaw won two state qualifier races over the weekend. She plans on competing in at least 6 qualifiers before the State Championships in Fresno during October.

Medics 4, Chem Kids 3 [8 Innings]
The Meds were down 3-0 through 6 and rallied to win. They were keyed by Michael Woodard's 1st hit - a triple.

American Legion 9, V & J 5

Tuesday

Medics 5, Tom's 1 [6 Innings]
The Meds came from behind - again. Cole Osborne threw a complete game 3-hitter, allowing 1 unearned run, in a game shortened by impending darkness and some light rain. Michael Woodard's RBI double in the top of the 4th tied the game after Tom's manufactured a run in the bottom of the first.

In the 5th, Tom's starter Holden Bohannon swaped places with shortstop Wren Greathouse. Luke Ybarra reached base, stole second, and scored on Freddy Fields single - Fields advancing to 2nd on the throw home. He then scored after a passed ball and a wild pitch. Marco Wray had a 2-run double in the sixth.

Lompoc's Jordan O'Bryne had 34 points in the loss.
