Thursday Tennis, Golf, Vollyball, etc.



The Cabrillo doubles tandem of David Terrones and Jeff Rodriguez have been a team strength this season.

Cabrillo was in this one - even at 7 sets apiece with 4 to go, but lost all four. There were 5 extra game sets and the Conqs went 2-3 in those, but the big problem was a 1-8 record in singles.

This may have been the best performance of the year for the Braves, as they bettered their previous score (12-6) against the Pirates. They only lost three sets, two in extra games. Pirate ace Mike Ion took a tie-break to salvage a 2-1 record.

Los Padres League Tournament @ Rancho Maria
The Santa Ynez Pirates took one step closer to a Los Padres League title on Thursday. They had their third different player take Medalist honors this season. Lompoc had three players under 90 for the first time in several years.

Santa Ynez won LPL championship again, while St. Joseph rallied to take second place as each squad earned a playoff berth.

Basketball

The Santa Barbara News-Press All-County Boys Basketball Team has been released. Among those earning honors are Jordan O'Byrne & Sherman Vernon III of Lompoc HS and Terrance Phillips of Cabrillo HS.
