Salm Streak Ended - Barely

LPL GIRLS GOLF
LPL Tournament # 4
[at Monarch Dunes, 9 holes]
The host Titans used their familiarity with the course to bump Cabrillo from its usual 2nd place and into third, an improving Lompoc squad took 4th. While Santa Ynez, after showing signs of being human by tying Nipomo earlier in the week, once again crushed the field.

Medalist: Pirate Kristen Henno carded a 37 to break Morgan Salm's Medalist streak, but it wasn't easy. Salm posted a 38 for Cabrillo, and Maddi Shean a 39 for Santa Ynez.

GIRLS TENNIS
Lompoc had the LPL Bye on Thursday and filled the date with the OrcAd Spartans. The inexperienced Braves hung tough, but the visitors depth was just too much. Cabrillo rolled on the road at Nipomo, Santa Ynez actually posted a 'normal' score while doing the same at Templeton. Santa Maria took out Morro Bay despite a Megan Hansen sweep.

Lompoc 49, Santa Maria 6
All Braves, all the time. Lompoc (2-3) was all over the Saints (0-4) as they ran out to a 35-0 halftime lead, then cruised home 49-6. The lone Santa Maria TD came in the fourth quarter.

It was over early. Santa Maria received the opening kickoff, gained 2 yards on 3 plays, and punted to Brandon Fronteras. Several seconds & 62 yards later he was standing in the endzone, and Lompoc had a 6-0 lead. The kick was good, the kickoff followed, but this time Fronteras didn't wait as long. He picked off a 3rd & 8 pass attempt and took it 39 yards for the TD. 14-0.

The Saints went 3 and out on their next possession, punting successfully. Three Braves runners then hauled the rock 71 yards 0n 7 carries, capped by a Fronteras 23 yard jaunt. 21-0. It got worse from there. Lompoc only ran 13 plays in the first half -12 carries totaling 209 yards and an incomplete pass. They failed to score only once when they had the ball - they were driving, but fumbled the ball away just before halftime.
