GIRLS SOCCER

The Conquistador girls took to the road (Orange County) to play two squads ranked in CIF-SS Div 5, and proved that they could compete with both of them. It was, however, a bit anti-climatic, since they tied both of them. They are now 3-2-2 on the season.

[Fri] Cabrillo 1, St Margarets 1 [Tie]

As Coach Wong reported on the CHS Girls's Soccer site -

"In a battle of Division 5 Top 10 teams, it was only fitting the game ended in a draw.
With an intense playoff type of atmosphere, spurred by the play on the field and a boisterous St. Margaret's student section, the Conqs and Tartans traded blows on the field.
The Tartans scored first in the tenth minute on a shot that just cleared Conq keeper Kiki Miller.
The last 15 minutes of the 1st half, the Conqs began putting pressure and created a near scoring opportunity.
The 2nd half the Conqs amped up the pressure, and tied the game in the 52min, when pressure by Kelsey Sherry forced a turnover by a Tartan defender, and Kelsey broke in on the Tartan keeper and placed a shot across the goal that hit the post and in.
Kelsey almost had the game winner late in the game with a good strike on goal.
The defense of Sydney Townes, Athena Nava, Carley Chatterley, Destiny Shott, Emma Fienga, and Brianna Farley was outstanding.
The game was very physical but also a great display of soccer by both teams."

[Sat] Cabrillo 1, Crean Lutheran 1 [Tie]
