Playoffs, Polls and Pizza [4 Nov]

The Braves  "Blue Wall" 






The plate was full on Monday - In more ways than one. There were plenty of full, but quickly emptying, plates at the NSBCART Luncheon.  CIF-SS released playoff brackets for Girls Tennis and 8-Man Football, as well as new polls most Fall sports [Full Brackets & Polls HERE]. And both local schools celebrated Senior Night for their Girls Volleyball squads [See HERE].

Both schools won their Senior Night contests. The Conqs swept Orcutt Academy 3-0, the Brave took a 5-set win from Mission College Prep (SLO). 

Cabrillo will be advancing into the CIF-SS playoffs later this week. Lompoc won 2 of their final 3 matches to finish their season at 5-16.

The Los Padres League (Lompoc/Cabrillo/etc) is in Division 4, and the PAC-7 in Division 3. All matches are originally scheduled for 2:00 pm.

Niether VCA nor Orcutt Academy were selected for Wild Card positions.

In Division I, SB/SLO County teams are #2 Seed Coast Union (vs Concordia), #4 Cate (Upland Christian), #7 Laguna Blanca, and (#9) Dunn School (at Avalon). All are at home except Dunn.


Cuyama Valley is the #4 seed among the 10 teams that were selected for the Division II tourney. They have a 1st round BYE and will play Lighthouse Christian in two weeks at home.
CIF-SS Polls 


There were no Polls released for Girls Golf, or 8-Man Football. The Girls Tennis Poll is the final one of the season. Only SB/SLO County teams listed, full poll info is  HERE.

NSBCART 

The Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Roundtable assembled a group of the top area athletes at Giovanni's in Orcutt for pizza and other rewards. This week the focus was on Football, Girls Tennis, and Boys Water Polo.

The 'Blue Wall' [Clockwise from bottom left] #71 Chris Morales, #56 Glen Taylor, #53 Sheldon Carpenter, #55 Matt Zandonatti, # 54 Jacob French surround #35 (TE) Ainuu Taua. The group have blasted open holes for the Braves triumvirate of backs this season. 

In Friday's 80-28 rout over Nipomo at Huyck Stadium, Lompoc ran for 625 yards (584 by the starters). The 'big 3' for the Braves compiled 499 yards on 22 carries in the 1st half (a 21.0 average). 

The win clinched at least a tie for the LPL title and the #1 league seed for the upcoming playoffs.


Female Athletes of the Week
Paige Jensen & Eliza Nash, Girls Tennis, Santa Ynez


Eliza Nash (L) and Paige Jenson were 29-1 in the regular LPL season. On Friday they defeated their teammates and defending Champions,  Reagan Mroz and Bree Jensen in the LPL Tournament Finals. They took the Championship in a very tight 7-6 (7), 3-6, 10-8 [Tiebreaker]  match by coming back from 6-8 down in the tiebreak.

Reagan Mroz & Bree Jensen had been 35-0 in the LPL before losing to Eliza Nash, and  Bree's younger sister Paige.
