Both Girls teams after the game - LVMS in White, VMS in Red.

Middle School Soccer

The clash between teams vying for valley soccer supremacy took place at Huyck Stadium on Wednesday night. Teams from Lompoc Valley Middle School and Vandenberg Middle School faced off in front of hundreds of enthusiastic parents, supporters, and soccer fans. Games consisted of 2 30-minute halves.

Steven Pico coached the LVMS squads, and recent addition Mark Murray helmed VMS.

Boys Game
LVMS 5, VMS 1
[Halftime 4-0 LVMS]

The kids from the valley thoroughly controlled the 1st half, but after extensive substitutions to start the 2nd the game was much more even.

One of the major difference-makers in the result was the play of LVMS GK Giovani Cuadra. He had several quite nifty saves and only surrendered a score in 2nd half stoppage time after several shots in a packed box ricocheted off of defenders and was drilled home from about 3 feet out.

Depending on who you talk to either Cabrillo Forfeited the match or it has been postponed. Apparently the Conqs only had 4 varsity grapplers available for the contest due to injury. Cabrillo officials are looking at January dates for a 2nd shot.
