Joel Smith Leads UW %'s; Vote in 48 Hours

In Seattle Saturday afternoon JOEL SMITH’s Washington Huskies downed Portland 67-63 to edge UW’s record up to 5-4.

Washington used its fourth different starting lineup of the season and second in the past two games as coach Lorenzo Romar continues to experiment.

Smith started for the sixth time in nine games and played 24 minutes. He contributed three points, three rebounds (two at the offensive end), three assists, two blocks and a steal.

Joel’s scoring average is 6.8 points per game as his offensive percentages continue to dazzle. His .618 field goal average is highest of anyone on the team save a center with far fewer minutes. Smith’s average from beyond the three-point arc is .579. That percentage leads the club. His .727 from the free-throw line (8-of-11) also leads the team.

Smith has also been nominated for consideration as Lompoc Locker Room’s Athlete of the Year. Take a look at the other nominees in the right-hand column below our sponsors.
