Church Goes from Hot to Blazing

The RYAN CHURCH story just keeps getting better.

Wednesday he was moved up from sixth slot hitter to fifth spot behind Carlos Beltran in the New York Mets lineup. He was batting .338 at the time.

Wednesday night after a 2-for-5 evening against his old team in Washington he was at .342.

What does .342 mean?

First of all he is the leading Met hitter. His 26 hits lead the team.

His .447 slugging percentage is second only to all-star David Wright. So are his .398 on-base percentage, his 13 RBI, and his two home runs.

And once he gets on base he scores runs. His total of 18 leads the Mets and ranks in the Top Ten in the National League at No. 9.

The Mets face the Nats again Thursday, then return home to host the Braves and Pirates. Then they hit the road to Arizona and Los Angeles. They’ll be at Dodger Stadium May 5, 6 and 7.
