Track and Field
Hancock
Three valley runners represented Allan Hancock College at the Ed Adams Invitational at Hartnell College over the weekend. Ariana Fabing (LHS), Duania Evans (LHS), and Terri Ladja (CHS) all competed in the 800 & 1500 Meter races, earning 12 of AHC's 32 points. The Hancock women finished 9th out 12 teams despite having only a few competitors.
Fabing was able to get into the points in both races and all three scored in the 1500 where Fabing was 3rd.
Ariana Fabing 1500 [5:37.61], 800 [2:44.23]
Duania Evans 1500 [6:24.71], 800 [3:03.75]
Terri Ladja 1500 [6:34.65], 800 [3:07.84]
Lompoc
In late news from the Arcadia Invitational, Chelsea Cassulo has done it again!! In the women's shot put she posted a school record mark (42-8.5), which was good enough for third in this high level event. How high a level ? How about competitors from all over , and I do mean ALL over -- including Utah, Nevada, Washington, Hawaii, Virginia, Wyoming, Florida, Arizona, New Jersey, Illinois, and New Zealand. 18 new national leaders were established as were 33 new state leaders. Running community publisher DyeStatCal reported 1,187 "Elite Marks" set. Even the phenomenon that is Jordan Hasay was pushed to the wire in a tight race.
The national rankings haven't been updated to reflect the weekends results, but Cassulo's mark should be rated about the 25th best in the country this year. The state rankings have been adjusted and the top 3 marks in the state this year were those set by the top three at Arcadia. Third in the state isn't too shabby, but throws coach Robin Luken believes that Chelsea is capable of throwing over 44 feet - so stay tuned.

Cabrillo / Lompoc meet Info
It has been a very frustrating weekend here in the LockerRoom. The Lompoc / Templeton meet results are still AWOL, and the Cabrillo / St Joe info has now been zapped into the ether twice - once by operator error & once due to technical problems. That is in addition to other computer gremlins, but in the words of LHS AD Jesse Davis "I'm working on it."
