The Santa Ynez Pirates did. They put the ball on the ground half a dozen times Friday night, but only turned it over once. The one they did lose was returned by Cabrillo's Marty Garnica for a TD, but the rally it ignited came up short. Meanwhile, over in Santa Maria, the ladies gathered for the LPL Tennis Finals.

Santa Ynez were the somewhat greedy designated hosts, as the Pirates took home most of the booty. Emily Ineman (Sur-prise, Sur-prise, Sur-prise) won the singles title for the Pirates after taking doubles titles 3 years running. In the LPL, the Santa Ynez senior was 31-0 this year, 122-1 for her career, and her high school career mark, so far, is 184-12. The Pirates also had 3 of the 4 duos in the semifinals. Heather Vellekamp/ Mylee Curtis continued their undefeated season with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over teammates Bianca Capasso/ Kylie Petersen.
