CIF Playoff Bracketology - Tennis & 8 Man Football

Girls Tennis start playoff action on Tuesday, and 8 Man football gears up on the weekend.

The CIF-SS Girls Tennis team competition is divided into 5 divisions. Only 4 involve area teams - Division 4 (Los Padres/Condor leagues), Division 3 (PAC-7/Tri-Valley/Pacific View), Division 1 (Channel/Marmonte), and Division 5 (Frontier).

Most of the theoretical 32 team brackets are actually stuffed with teams , so there is a "Wild Card" round on Tuesday preceding the official '1st Round' on Wednesday. This means most #2-4 entries will play on consecutive days. Also, you may be surprised to see many 'Top 10' squads in the same part of the brackets - that's because CIF-SS only seeds the top 4. Most teams will play wild card games, many of them on the road.

Football [8 Man]

This one is simpler - two 16 team brackets. Each of the 10 leagues get 1 guaranteed spot, and everybody else is thrown into pool withe the freelance squads where they all hope to be selected by the committee as an At Large team. Teams from the same league can end up in separate divisions. There are 2 divisions based mostly on enrollment size. Games start on Friday, 2 November.

The 2 major area leagues are the Condor and the Coast Valley.
