Since there is a dearth of coverage on this game, here are a few tidbits -
Austin Hayes took the opening kickoff back 95 yds for a TD. The Braves also scored with 8 min & 3 min (75y Drayton Howell to Greg Mitchell) remaining in the 1st Q and were up 21-0 at the initial break.
Early in the 2nd, Morro Bay QB Dan Beavers hit a long pass to Zach Smith that set up a 10-yard pass to Smith for the Pirates only TD. Lompoc answered, however, with a pair of TD's later in the quarter (7 1/2 & 1 1/2 minutes left). The latter was a Howell to Taua pass in the corner of the end zone.
The 3rd was more of the same with TD's at the 6 minute mark (short Howell to A.J. Flores pass) and at 3 1/2 remaining. Neither team scored in the final period.
The Braves defense appears to be back - the Pirates' Tristan Collins collected 47 of his 75 yards (13 carries) on one run in the second quarter. Taua had another pair of sacks.
