There are area teams participating in two large boys water polo tournaments this weekend - one in Ventura County, the other in Santa Maria.

The Tournament was divided into two sections -
Pool Play (Friday) [Games 1-10] ( Some at Santa Maria HS) &
Re-ordered Pool Play (Saturday) [Games 11-20]
Rules
Games 1-10: 6 minute quarters, no timeouts, ties stand (bracket ties decided by goal differential)
Games 11-20: 6 minute quarters, 1 full time out + 1 30-second timeout, sudden victory for ties
Ties for places (results of games 10-18) decided by goal differential;

CONEJO CLASSIC
The Conejo Classic, a long-established boys water polo tournament hosted by Thousand Oaks HS, takes place over two days and this year involves 39 teams in 3 divisions playing 87 games at 6 sites. Most of the teams are from Ventura and northern LA counties, with several select teams from other areas of the state. Fortunately for our purposes all 4 squads from the area, including Cabrillo, are competing in the 14 team 'Division 2'.

Placement Games: The teams continue to play opponents with similar results to determine the finish (place) in the tournament. Qualifiers for the top sections of the bracket having already been determined (Pool winners in the top 4 spots, runners-up 4-8, etc.) by the previous games, that portion is relatively straight-forward. The 6 teams at the bottom play 3 more games to determine places 9-14 which can involve overall records, head-to-head matches, total points, etc. .
