Round 1:1-5 Round 2: 1-5 Round 3: 1-5
When you win big, you get to wait a while 'till the next round starts Mary. |
It was a relatively easy day for the Pirates, but it was not an absolute rout. NSBCART Female Athlete Of the Week Mary Kovalowski continued to roll. On Tuesday, the only time she was even threatened a bit, she won 5 of the next 6 games to take the set. The remarkable frosh is now 26-6 on the season, with all 6 losses coming early in the season to good players on teams from the Pac-7 or outside the local area. [Rene Handley (San Marcos), Sophia Whittle (AG), Lauren Hayashi (AG), Maya O'Brien (SLO), Katie Wee (Cerritos), Annette Sousa (Righetti).
The best contest of the day was a marathon match-up between an ailing Emily Gracyk and Tyler Bunderson. It seemed like every game went to deuce at least once, with Gracyk clawing back from a deficit to take the tie-breaker 8-6.
