Cross-Country Catch-up & Great Golfing Girls

Tom Garrard and the LHS Girls Golf Team earlier in the season.

Well, we're mostly back from the severe case of web oblivion. The current jury-rigged devices should be replaced on Tuesday with new equipment. The results from Wednesdays LPL X-C meet arrived about the time the equipment went kaput - so here they are.

LPL All-Duals Meet
The Cabrillo boys did indeed come out on top - earning 6 points toward an LPL Title, the girls struggled, however. The Lompoc boys broke even (3-3) in the all-dual meet scoring, while the girls (2-4) remained within stricking distance of a playoff berth.

LPL Girls Golf
Lompoc (2-2, 2-5) 290 at Morro Bay 318 [9 Holes]

Lompoc played the course at the Morro Bay Golf Club just last Thursday during the LPL tourney. Apparently they paid attention to the layout and learned how to shave some strokes, because when they returned Monday afternoon for a Los Padres League girls golf dual match with the Pirates they cut 12 of them off their previous low round, and 18 off of the round from last week.

The resounding 28 stroke win was especially welcome, since the Braves have been beaten by the Pirates at the last two LPL tournaments by a total of three points.

Three members of the team, led by Jocelyn Caudillo who was pulled away from the NSBCART luncheon by the team on their way north, shot personal records. Caudillo, took the medal with a solid 50 - 5 strokes better than she shot on Thursday.

Ali Wilson (58, 8 strokes better) and Anna Clark (63, 14 stroke improvement) also had their lowest rounds ever in the match for the Braves Kaleigh Goethe (54) & Julietta Solis (65) also had solid scoring rounds for the Braves.

Jill Steinman (55) and Shanna Cro (56) were the low scorers for Morro Bay.

Lompoc, now in fourth place in the LPL, is back in action Thursday at LPL Tournament #4, hosted by Santa Ynez at the Alisal River Course. --- el stato
