The Saints came marching in to Cabrillo's new alternate home [Ryon Park] on Tuesday, while the St. Joe Knights were just up 'O' street at Lompoc. Santa Ynez hosted Morro Bay, and Templeton played non-league foe Coast Union.

The Saints have received no favors from the schedulers, facing all the LPL's toughest teams right out of the gate. And Cabrillo kept Santa Maria's "0- fer" streak intact, winning 16-2.

The Conquistadors swept doubles with wins by Brissa Montes / Jessica Montes [6-3, 6-0, 6-0], Lanae Magers / Katy Carlson [6-1, 6-0, 6-0], Jocelyn Walton / Elke Peirtsegaele [6-0, 6-0], and Lindsie Hollaway / Elke Peirtsegaele [6-4].

Singles players Julie Leyva (left) & Ashley Pennewell both swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, and Nikki Peirtsegaele won a set [6-1] before giving way to Amy de Vonage.

One of Santa Maria's two points was won by Belgian exchange student Astrid Schiffler.

Lompoc held their own in doubles (5-4), but were swept in singles, falling 13-5 to St. Joseph. The Braves were in this match, trailing only 6-4 midway through the second round, but couldn't maintain the pace.

The Maria Morales / Dana Campitelli duo won all their doubles sets [7-5, 6-4, 6-3], overcoming a 5-4 deficit to defeat the Knights #1 pair - Shelby Brooks and Sammy White. Kaitlyn Munoz / Elicity Fabing took two more points for the Braves, and pressed Brooks / White before falling 6-4.

The singles players, however, couldn't break through against the formidable line-up of Ane McPike [6-0, 6-0, 6-2], Frankie Eszes [6-2, 6-0, 6-3], and Moana Kawatachi [7-6(7-5), 3-6, 2-6]. Paty Martinez came the closest, pushing Kawatachi to the tie-breaker, but she came up just short. Sameeha Husayn took at least two games from all three, and lost several games after getting to duece.

Santa Ynez swamped Morro Bay 16-2 as five doubles teams won en route to a sweep, and Templeton topped Coast Union 15-3.

On Thursday, Cabrillo travels to St. Joseph, and Lompoc faces non-league Righetti.

Boys Water Polo
There were two blow-outs in the pool Tuesday. One was no surprise, the other would have been in any other recent year.

Santa Ynez gave up a goal in each half to the Morro Bay Pirates, but scored a total of 19 themselves in the Battle of the Pirates. Nine SY players scored, five of them multiple times.
Cabrillo hosted the Oxnard Yellowjackets at the COLAC and fell 19-5 . Brayson Ogan had three goals for the Conqs. John Carroll and Garrett Darling each had one.
