Jessica Farley apparently hit this one so hard she caused a rift in the space-time continuum.

LPL Tournament #2
[@ the Village Country Club]
There were some strange happenings at the Village Country Club on Thursday. Morro Bay cancelled their appearance and three Santa Maria team members girls didn't make the trip, so only four teams were able to post scores.
Two of those teams, St Joseph and Santa Ynez, tied for the title at 245. Cabrillo was third with a 276, and Lompoc carded a 339. The girls played the front nine, and found the course a bit more difficult than Rancho Maria last week. However, two Lompoc players had personal bests - Ali Wilson (74) and Jocelyn Caudillo (59). Cabrillo's Gabby Hott followed last weeks personal best 53 with her second best effort ever - a 57.
The Individual leaders were no surprise. The diminutive Maddie Shean (pictured) of Santa Ynez won Medalist honors with a 37. She has now posted consecutive sub-40 tournament rounds (a 39 last week) for what she believes is the first time in her career. The win gives her a 1-stroke overall lead for the LPL Medalist Title over Danielle Gilaspy of St Joseph who shot a 40. Cabrillo's Morgan Salm sot a 43 on her home course for third.
Notes: Lompoc soph Julietta Solis has again been struggling with pain in her right wrist, the same problem that sidelined her last year. Conditions were good although it was a little windy late, and the fog started rolling in just as play ended.
Team scorers:
Cabrillo [276] : Morgan Salm 43, Mariah Hall 62, Paige Hurlbut 57, Jade Stevens 57, Marissa Merrick 70, and Gabby Hott 57.

Cabrillo vs Santa Maria
The Conquistadors [3-4, 3-0 LPL] swept (25-14, 25-15, 25-20) a game but overmatched Saints squad on Thursday night. Kelly O'Conner, Kaylee Long, and Ashley Bonenfant were strong from the service line. in addition, Bonenfant did great work setting the ball all night, and closed out the first two games with massive kills (the girl got hops).
Jessica "The Hammer" Farley had 9 kills, including the match-winner, and influenced innumerable shots. She was supported by strong frontline play by Tiffany Lee and Jennie Hilliard.
The JV also swept 25-14, 25-12. Leaders included: Caitlin Harvey-Morgan -3 kills, 3 Aces; Colby Edman-2 Aces, 3 digs; Tori Tennant- 3 Aces; and team captain Kiley Shae Aldridge had 3 kills and provided great sets throughout the match. The freshman team also won 25-21, 25-15.
Lompoc vs St. Joseph [Story]
The Lompoc teams had a pervasive failure to answer to opening bell against the Knights on Thursday, and the slow starts cost them. The frosh started things off with a 25-8, 25-23 loss, which Coach Beth Dougherty summed up by saying - "The second game they decided to play".

JV Coach Ramona Rogers was equally frustrated after her girls lost 26-24, 25-23. The team played hard, but missed several excellent opportunities to take points that would have swung the match. Jess Brundy & Crystal Grover led the Braves effort.
The varsity were perhaps the worst offenders of late activation syndrome falling in straight sets 25-3, 25-15, 25-20. Cameron Lizarraga, Brandy Machado, and Susan Hang were impact players for the Braves. But the player of the game was St. Joes returning All-LPL Opposite Dayna Drewniak, who had 12 kills,8 digs, 4 aces, and 2 blocks.
Other LPL
Santa Ynez [3-0 LPL] went on the road and topped Morro Bay 25-13, 25 -22, 25-16. Mackenzie Mexico had 19 assists, 11 digs, and two kills.
Templeton hosted Mission Prep and lost in straight sets.

As usual the Braves made their mark in doubles play, riding sweeps by the Maria Morales / Dana Campitelli and Elicity Fabing / Kaitlyn Munoz to a 10-8 victory.Santa Ynez [3-0 LPL] went on the road and topped Morro Bay 25-13, 25 -22, 25-16. Mackenzie Mexico had 19 assists, 11 digs, and two kills.

Lompoc [2-4] @ Righetti [2-6]
The JV dropped a tough one to the Warriors. The 10-8 loss was done in uncharactaristic fashion by the Braves. They won the singles 6-3, but lost the doubles 7-2. Each singles player, Emily Tremblay (6-3, 6-3), Gold Vang (6-0, 6-2), and Katelyn Lee (6-1, 6-4) won two sets - all losing to the Righetti #1. Lee's play has been a revelation, since she was shifted to singles after her doubles partner, Korina Esqueda, was called up to varsity.
Doubles, the usual point source for the Braves, lost two close sets that could have swung the match, one 7-5 in regulation, and a 7-6 tiebreaker. Ashley Branson / Azucena Villalobos (1-6, 7-5, 6-1) took the only two points for Lompoc.
Cabrillo [4-1 LPL] @ St. Joseph [6-1, 5-0 LPL][Story]
The Conqs lost 13-5 to a fired-up Knights team that controlled all phases of the match. They jumped out to an first round 5-1 lead and never looked back, winning the singles 7-2, and the doubles 6-3. Lanae Magers / Katy Carlson were the only multi-point winners for Cabrillo.

The Saints were again swept in singles to negate an excellent doubles performance.

Cabrillo JV
Since Santa Maria doesn't field a JV squad this year, Bob Radford's charges traveled to the land of the Big Ditch to tangle with the Arroyo Grande Eagles. The Conqs dropped a tight one 13-7. After taking a lead, they gave up 13 2nd half points.

Conq Frosh
Steve Haskins' Frosh hosted the Santa Maria Saints on Thursday. It was not close - the Conquistadors won 41-6 and it could have been worse. TD's were scored by T.J. Babauta (3), Isaiah Montes, Jeff Aldridge, & Matt Thomas. Kicker / Linebacker Nick Bell had 5 PAT's and was a defensive stallwart, along with Thomas and Kean Marsh.
