Golf, More Alumni, and some Tidbits

Alumni Update : Part II

Soccer
Katie McIntosh #14
Chico St. [7-9-2, 3-7-2 CCAA] It’s been a tough three weeks for the Wildcats, who have dropped five of their last six matches.
But in the lastest game report

"Melissa Lindsay and Katie McIntosh connected with Brittney Doty in the 82nd minute of the match to score Chico State’s only goal in a 2-1 California Collegiate Athletic Association loss at Cal State Stanislaus."[Story]

A starting Wildcat defender in all 18 games, senior Katie McIntosh has three assists and one shot on goal. Her last assist was Sept 4 vs St. Martin's.
Chico State wraps up the regular season next weekend on the road with matches against Humboldt State on Friday at 7:00 and Sonoma State on Sunday at 2:00.


Amanda Murray #20
The Cal St Dominguez Hills womens soccer team, got off to slow start, won 7 straight matches, lost two back-to-back, and then won their last one - a 5-1 victory over NAIA #12 CS San Marcos.


Amanda, a junior transfer from Hancock, had not played in the last several games, but got 23 minutes in this one. She has 68 minutes in 3 appearances this season.
CSUDH [11-7, 8-4 CCAA] concludes CCAA play next weekend at Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino.

AHC - Men
The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team dropped their last six Western State Conference games, the latest a 1-0 loss to Glendale to start the second round of WSC play. Hancock (4-13, 1-7 WSC) . The Bulldogs will travel to Canyons (Tuesday, 28 Oct), whom they defeated 2-0 in the initial round, and Moorpark (Friday, 31 Oct.) - both games at 4:00 p.m.

Juan Benivides (LHS) and Massimo Beeson (CHS) play for the Bulldogs, but no individual information is currently available.

Cross-country

Michael Coe
The Cabrillo product has been strugling with injuries this season, and has run in only 1 of 5 events. He finished 36th in the NCAA Prelim Blue Race with a time of 24:16 for the 8K course. That was the second fastest time for the Cal Golden Bears and helped pace them to an 8th place finish. They compete in the Pac-10 finals on Oct. 31st.

AHC
The Bulldogs were led, as usual, at the SoCal Preview Meet in Bakersfield by Lompoc Valley athletes. The squad finished 27th out of 36 teams (345 runners) in the men's 4 mile race and was 22nd of 29 in the women's 5K race (260 runners). Several runners set collegiate personal bests. The valley runners took both the tops spots for Hancock and the top 3 on the men's side.

LPL Golf Dual Meet

St Joseph @ Lompoc [La Purisima- 9 holes (front)]

With one notable exception the course was the winner of this match-up, as several players carded scores they were not used to seeing. As expected, St Joseph won the contest between the actual competitors 266-350. Also , surprising nobody, the Medalist was Danielle Gilaspy from St. Joseph.

Kaleigh Goethe, who transfered from Michigan, has become the mainstay of the Braves team this year. Shown here modeling the NEW golf bags the team raised money to buy.

Lompoc [350]: Kaleigh Goethe 62, Jocelyn Caudillo 68, Julietta Solis 65, , Ali Wilson 76, Anna Clark 80, and Brittney Kowaleski 79.

St. Joseph [266]: Danielle Gilaspy 41, Marissa Gutierrez 58, Kelsey Wong 48, Christy Mahan 62, Chloe Dunn 64, and Danika Cochiolo 57.

In JV Action
Neither side fielded a full squad:
St Joe - Devan Teschner 61, Megan Morgan 73, Lindsey Cora 76, Leeane DeGuzman 72. Lompoc - Jericha Garcia 87.

The final LPL Tournament of the season will be hosted by Santa Maria on Thursday.

Cabrillo Volleyball
And finally, a note from Coach Jennifer Smith about last Thursday's Cabrillo Volleyball contests -

"Thursday, Oct 23 JV won in 2 (25-23, 25-15). We are now 7-1 in league. Colby Edman served 14 in a row with 7 of them being aces! Kiley Shae Aldridge finished the night with 9 assists and 5 kills. Freshman lost in 2..."
