Conqs Win, Conqs Fall, Brave Sit This One Out

It was another day of LPL/PAC-7 matches in Girls Water Polo and Wrestling, but small school action predominated in the gyms and on the pitch. It was also a historic occasion as Laurie Decker (ex Nipomo A/D and 2-time Minnesota State POY among other accomplishments) became the first female Head Coach of a central coast boys basketball program by taking the helm at SLO. [STORY]

Cabrillo
Girls Water Polo: The Conqs fell behind 3-0 after one period and could never quite make up the difference, falling 11-7 to the 2011 PAC-7 Champs. Scorers for Cabrillo - Tancy Aldridge 4, Tori Bray 2, Samantha Carroll. The Eagles downed the JV 9-1.

Boys Basketball: The guys traveled to Ojai to participate in the 70th Annual Nordhoff Tournament. They were paired with Buena in the first round and won 69-57. Cabrillo plays the host Rangers on Thursday.

Lompoc
The Braves took the day off from formal competition. The Bryan Ayer Classic (Girls Basketball) starts Thursday at LHS. The event commemorates former AD, Hoops Coach, and Lompoc HS enthusiast Bryan Ayer who died of cancer in 2006 at the age of 39. The Tournament has 8 teams, including both Lompoc and Cabrillo.

Paisola Pavillion will also see a double-header on Saturday, with an Alumni Squad taking on the Lompoc Firefighters team at 4 pm, followed by a contest between the Boys Varsity and the JV at 6pm.
