Winter is Coming, er Here

The Winter sports season has now really swung into action. True, there had been some scrimmages, and a few area squads even snuck  in a few real contests over the past week. Those, however, were simply a few  flurries and a light dusting of snow, the sports blizzard hit on Tuesday.

Most of the action consisted of LPL/PAC-7 match-ups, with the LPL on the road in Boys Soccer, at home in Girls Soccer, and evenly split in Girls Water Polo.

Cabrillo
Soccer: The Cabrillo Conquistadores lost a 2-1 decision in SLO to the Tigers. San Luis scored in the 1st half on a ball the the GK deflected, but not quite enough. Cabrillo answered for a 1-1 halftime tie, but gave up a 2nd half goal on a penalty kick. The JV won 2-1. At home, the #3 ranked girls parlayed a JamieLee Miller 1st half goal into a 1-0 win. The JV had to settle for a  3-3 tie

Girls Water Polo: The Grayhounds are usually pretty good, but Cabrillo is better. Consider conditions to be normal - the Varsity won 14-8, and the JV won 15-7.

Lompoc
The only Braves teams in action were the soccer squads - both against Pioneer Valley.  The boys won on the road 2-0, and the girls won 2-1 at Huyck. [Story] The JV results were not reported.
