The news for the local squads was mixed, with the Cabrillo Varsity & Lompoc JV recording wins but the Lompoc Varsity coming up short.

Football

Just a couple quick notes from the CIF-SS Championship Games. There were two games of some interest to area fans, and both featured re-matches of games played earlier this season. Serra, despite more than a dozen penalties, managed to hold on late and defeat Chaminade 30-28. The Cavaliers lost 28-20 back in October, and defeated the Lompoc Braves last week in the semifinals.

Mission Prep (SLO) beat Rio Hondo Prep 47-14 in Arcadia back in August, but fell on the road Friday night on a very sloppy field 28-21.
