A mish-mash of miscelania today-

Monday's Scores

Girls softball

In the last nine days the Cabrillo Conquistadors softball squad has played five games against the Santa Barbara schools (Santa Barara [2], Dos Pueblos, San Marcos, and even Bishop Diego). The result - five wins by a 48-2 run margin. That would seem to make Cabrillo the Santa Barbara City Champions, wouldn't it ?

Cabrillo [6-0] 9, San Marcos 1
Sophomore lefty Kiley Shae Aldridge [4-0] pitched a complete game, allowing only 4 hits while striking out 10. The Conquistadors, on the other hand pounded out 13 hits. Shy'Ann Morrow, Kelcie Jo Pecyna and Adrianna Segura all had two hits, and 2 RBI's apiece. Morrow's hits were both doubles.
Gabi Palacios decided three was her number cranking out three singles and swiping three bases.

Michael Coe
CHS grad Michael Coe has added a title to go along with the bronze and silver medals he won last week - All-American. He was also named the 2009 indoor season Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Athlete of the Year, in part for his performance last weekend.

Friday night, at the NCAA Indoor National Championships hosted by Texas A & M University in College Station, Coe’s 3:57.4 1,600m anchor leg helped his Cal distance medley relay team to a third place finish (9:30.31). They were just .80 off Oregon's winning pace, and only.08 behind second place Arkansas.

The sophomore redshirt topped that on Saturday, finishing second (7:54.4) to Oregon's Galen Rupp (7:38.9) in the men’s open 3,000 meters. Rupp was a 2008 Olympian in the 10,000 meters.

Coe's finishes earned him his first two college All-American honors, in the conclusion to the indoor season. The outdoor season will start in late April.

Jordan Hasay
Arroyo Grande resident and Mission Prep senior Jordan Hasay didn't set the national record Sunday at the Nike Indoor Nationals in Boston, but she did win her first ever indoor race and first race this year. She won the girls seeded two mile in 10:10.89 against a quality field. The runner-up was fellow Footlocker cross country national finalist Shelby Greany of Suffern, N.Y. (10:24.11). The runner-up to Hasay at the Footlocker nationals, Ashley Brasovan of Wellington, Fla., was fifth (10:31.38).

Although she didn't threaten Melody Fairchild’s prep two mile indoor national record of 9:55.92 she did win a national caliber race for the eighth time in her high school career. Hasay won her second Footlocker national title last December. Hasay’s next race will be the 1600 at the San Luis Obispo County Meet March 28.
