Dive, Dive, Dive

SWIM / DIVE

SLO Dive Preview
[Shinshimer Pool 28 March 2009]

Seventy-three divers from throughout the area met Saturday in SLO to compete in four divisions - 11-dive and 6-dive events for both genders. Cabrillo Coach Jim Thompson took 12 of his 13 eligible divers to the meet, and thought they performed "quite well" against PAC-7, LPL, etc. competition. He was especially pleased that the Conquistadors were first among the LPL divers that participated.

It was the first 11-dive event for the three Cabrillo divers that competed at that level, but all three achieved CIF consideration totals, and it was the FIRST EVER dive meet for sophomore Jessica Roukhuyzon who WON the girls 6-dive event. Even more remarkable is the fact that she didn't learn the last dive she needed to become eligible until the night before the meet.

Thompson plans to have 6-8 divers ready for the 11-dive event, and about 18 total, for the next meet a few weeks hence.
